ok... back from a busy summer ! I'm gonna start back with gut shot opine grade and then (likely) go back to +1 dependent upon my results. RLM's,, you are the man !!!!
Great obverse. The reverse really brings the grade as a whole down. Obverse - 67, Reverse - 62. Total Grade 65
I see pixels. There's way too much noise in this pic. If this were the Grassy Knoll, I'd see three shooters LOL
I bought this coin from Andy Skrabalak (Angel Dees) at the Dallas ANA show. We both think this ought to be a 64. According to him, he sent this to PCGS 4 times and got 63RB, 63RD, cleaned, and then 63RB. Although I think he has a tendency to spin tales, in the end, we cannot see what PCGS saw in this to hold it to a 63. It is a good strike (particularly for a not so well struck year), decent luster, and no significant distractions.
Really can't see this coin as a 63 , it's well struck with clean fields and hardly any hits . A coin I'd be proud to own .
Yea, it's a very nice coin....PCGS is wrong....these have subdued luster, that's all there is to it. These along with the 21-S are generally terrible. Not only are the strikes usually poor, I believe the planchets were bad for both years as evidenced by the abundance of woodies. They also toned down very quickly and true red, bright coins are exceedingly rare. I really hate when luster dominates over hits, spots and strike. For the issue, this is a nice coin!
Made me to look....LOL....gotta love ha.com as a reference tool. Check out this BB, I call bull on it: http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=131243&lotNo=22659#Photo That's how all of the MS examples I've seen in hand look. Most of them look like they were dipped, almost lusterless. Could it be I've only seen "questionable" coins over my collecting span? LOL
Bad pics, but this is more what I expect a 63 to look like: http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=66122&lotNo=24092#Photo http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=68101&lotNo=61206#Photo
