I guess 67. Frankly, 68 would not surprise me -- the coin looks very clean. Has NGC even graded a 68?
I've seen quite a few older graded 67's that couldn't hold a candle to this coin. I'm also not saying this coin is not worthy of a 67, but here is my reasoning. Newly graded, definitively RED coin. Did you pay roughly 2k for a coin with a hit like that on the reverse and few other micro nicks? I'm going to bet you didn't and say 66 (though I'm a bit worried). ........BEAUTIFUL coin though!!
The price difference between a PCGS 67 and an NGC 67 is amazing , but this coin is nicer than most 67s in either slab , if it is a 66 , it was a heck of a buy for rlm .
I only looked at pricing for NGC and they had it listed at $2,500. What's the PCGS pricing? I also saw a wide variance with realized prices. If there was EVER a case for buying the coin and not the slab, this was it. On Heritage there are older graded MS67's that sold for around $1,000 that looked almost two grades below this coin!!
This is a nice one. Dead solid strike and nice luster with only a couple tiny nicks on the reverse. Trying real hard to see their grade, the nicks are a bit marginal for a 67 as is the luster. I guess combined, they were too much for a 67. The only reason I could see for not giving it a + would be this was graded prior to their use. Anyway, NGC only called this a 66. BTW, for those of you who avoid the BIN on eBay, I suspect someone mispriced this one. I got it for $20 BIN.
