Nice strike and luster , should go 67 . It has a slight woody look that I like but not sure how PCGS would go .
Didn't really notice the week strike on Lincolns clothes and beard , wonder if '37-Ds are noted for that , high 66 or low 67 is the question , coins is relatively clean with great luster .
Dead solid strike, nice luster, and just a few tiny nicks. Yes, it has a hint of wood grain to it. My only guess is that the grain along with the tiny nicks kept it from a 67. PGCS gave it a 66. I would rate it at least a 66+, but that grade did not exist back then.
Dick , 2 questions , 1. It looks like a week strike on his coat , is this normal for '37-Ds , 2. Did PCGS even give out any 67s for this date and MM ? Looking on Heritage , I couldn't find any 67s .
I have no idea why you thing that coat is weakly stuck. It is rock solid. Caption for a 1937-D NGC 67 Heritage listing; i.e. PCGS has 319 67's and 2 68's. BTW, Heritage has sold 101 of them.
It just looks like there's not much to the collar , almost like the neck runs into his coat . I agree the rest of the coin is well struck , it's just that one area I thought weak . Also I better learn how to use the search functions on Heritage better , I couldn't find any , which seemed odd to me . Thanks for the numbers .
You can select date (1937-D), grade (ms-67) and grading company (PCGS). That should pretty much cover it. I got 101 coins that way.
