Note: I got a new camera I am still playing with. Please excuse any problems with the pictures - and this coin was particularly difficult to photograph. Also, no new round this Wednesday.

ms-64, is there some sort of lamination problem or a wood-grain effect that i am seeing?

HAHAHA...tough coin to take pictures of! LOVE IT! I'm sure the reverse looks much better in hand.

64, too many marks for a 65 or higher.

I'm going MS-64 RB on this one. All though it wouldn't surprise me to see it in a 65 slab or even a 63 slab, knowing how wild NGC can be on woodies sometimes.

64, and that is one ugly coin.

I'm going to say ms63, though I'd probably take an AU coin that is more pleasing to the eye over this one.

Maybe the seller's pictures would have helped, but in hand, the coin is probably in between his photos and my (although his are probably closer). Lots of color on the obverse and some graining, but the reverse is kind of nondescript. There are only a couple tiny nicks on it. The obverse has real nice luster, but the reverse is kind of mediocre. As is common for the 1917-'s, a superb strike with full beard details, but they are hard to see with the coloring. NGC gave it a 65. Maybe I am prejudiced, but that is a solid 65 to me.
