RLM, what do they call that marking behind the letter 'O" on the reverse? It wouldnt be considered a clash die would it be?
No, it is not a die clash. It is a shiny spot. I have seen such on several coins and it is almost common on 1943's.
This one almost has a cameo effect for Abe. So where Abe looks so rough, that is just missing the cameo. The reverse is nearly mark free with just some light die polishing lines and the shiny spot. Interesting luster with the cameo with a solid strike and nearly mark free. It is really a very nice looking coin in hand. Apparently PCGS liked the cameo because they gave it a 67. I don't think it is a strong 67, but I cannot argue with a 67.
beautiful coin,, obverse definitely solicits the 67 wow factor. What kept me at 66 was the noise by the "O" on the reverse... I couldn't tell if that was post mint hits or what.... so went 66. Another sweet coin RLM's !! this one and the 55... very nice.
Interesting....what's going on by the O in ONE? The far away slab pic shows a different story. You should include the slab pic with the grade blacked out, it helps complete the picture of what we're looking at.
Had to check after the last thread if the picture file name had the grade. LOL....nope...we're cool here. I was wondering how I got knocked down to 10th for awhile.
As for the O, here; As for the slab picture, we have talked about it before. If I could take a descent slab picture for NGC, I would post a slab picture. However, my NGC slab pictures are so dark it is sometimes hard to see the coin.
