1912-D PCGS slabbed NOTE: If you don't vote in the poll, your vote will not be counted. I will be away for a while next week so these will not end until Wednesday, July 13.
I think 64, but it reminds of one of the last 2 that was a 63. The first pictures shows the luster and the second picture makes it look almost lifeless. I went with 64 just cause I liked it.
Tough coin, I'm going conservative and it might bump me outta the top 10. That's hardly a hit anywhere on that coin but I'm not seeing any cartwheel action under that brown.
That's a pricey coin in Gem, even brown, IIRC. I could really grade the coin anywhere from 63 to 65. I'll guess it graded 64 BN. One of my favorite coins in a while. Superb coin, IMO.
I have put this coin on before (09-10 #63). I learned 2 things. First, you apparently like to grade the higher grade coins. Only 16 here, but the 1932- had 27. Secondly, only 2 of the 6 people who guessed both times gave the same answer (Shoewrecky and ddoom1) repeated their guesses. I am not sure if that is good or bad because you missed it by an average of 2.65 last time but only 1.63 this time. Maybe you have actually been learning. Anyhow, gorgeous coin. Nearly mark free and a good strike, but a couple tiny spots and not the greatest luster. PCGS said 64 and that sounds about right to me.
People probably like to guess at grading higher coins probably because it may be a little "easier' to tell then then in lesser grades. I say do both because we cant learn if we keep doing higher grades. If we are missing by less then we are learning imho. Though if it wasnt for you as well and takign the time to post then we wouldnt havent learned as much. Thanks dick!
My guess would be no. Don't know if the spots were there to begin with, but certainly would keep it down. Even if there were no spots, this coin is lacking in the luster department enough to keep it at a 64.
