I was looking for AU58 because I thought there was light rubbing on the cheeks. I'll go with MS 61 though.
Fugly... one reason I prefer browns,,,, they don't spot as easily post slab. I have a couple of these. Go BROWN ye cent fans! Tough to grade,,, the toned area looks a lot like wear,,, I'll say 62,, plus one... 63. I have noticed however, the many tpg's are harder on these common dates, saving the optimism for the $'er coins.
63...can you tell me if there is a die crack on obverse from 10 to 11 o'clock? and what is in the field at 3 on the obverse?
I see the print, but running just off the I and down it looks like the copper is raised a bit, also there is a triangular shaped "something" to the right of the chin and above the 91 in 1911. Maybe I'm imagining these?
That is exactly the piece I think is the fingerprint or whatever it is that turned it brown. It is not raised. The triangular shape you are talking about is a nick to the left and maybe a nick on the right (it is so small I can hardly see it), but I find no bottom
That spot in the field in the C in CENT is absolutely disgusting, very distracting, more spots of course and the overall color of the coin are just plain ugly. I'll call it a 61.
