This is an 1808/7 Bust Half certified by NGC. It is a fantastic original coin . The coin is certified by CAC. Guess the grade. Click the image to enlarge.
Yes you did see this one last year . You wanted to buy it from me ! :-} You also liked the 1818/7 I had, both had a similar look.
Another nice coin! I'm going to go with my first thought -- 40. Thought it might go higher, but I can't see enough luster to grade it so.
Darn. Mark, How's the luster in-hand? It appears muted (and led me to guess what I did). Just wondering...Mike
For an Au 50 the luster is more then acceptable. For those who love original Bust Half’s the coin is a very desirable chocolate brown . As you know CAC is very strict so the green bean solidifies the grade for me.
I know the "look" and I have some experience with the CAC. However, the coin appeared a bit flat (perhaps the photos) with respect to luster -- thus the question. Please don't take it the wrong way.
Au-50, I was going to go XF-45, but in hand it may have just a tad more luster than in the photos. A nice one imo as mine is only about a F-12
Most of the remaining luster in confined to the peripherals and protected areas. This coin also had a good strike.
