Well I sent off a bunch of my birth year error coins to NGC. What do you think NGC will grade this coin? I will post the answer when I know!!
MS-63, and it is a Saddle Strike. Any off-center strike that is doubled w/o overlapping is called a Saddle Strike...
Grading these errors is a crapshoot and I'm not sure they should even get a specific MS grade. But what the heck...MS63 or 64RD...
Congratulations to you, but I would sure like to know how they came up with that grade. Apparently they ignore the blistering (or whatever the coating separations are called), but I would still think those bag marks and gouges would prohibit such grading in spite of the blisters.
Is this true or not true? According to my new readings my first quote is incorrect. A Saddle Strike must have a buckled area between the two strikes for it to be classified as a saddle strike. If it has no buckling between the strikes its considered a Double Strike. I have been digging deeply to find my first source of info., but I've come up empty handed so far. It has my definition of my first quote. Does anyone else have a Saddle Strike definition?
This was goggled as a Saddle Strike ( mickey mouse ears ). This too is in my new reading and says its often mistaken as a saddle strike.
Because NGC and PCGS cannot grade a Memorial cent to save their lives. All of the Memorials I've submitted come back over-graded...and I mean EVERY ONE OF THEM. 90% of their grade is based on luster, if it's shiny, it gets a higher grade regardless of hits and spots.
