Awesome reverse toning, light burnt orange on obverse.

But it may be cleaned and is that a fingerprint at 9-10 o'clock on the obverse?

Judging from the pictures......AU in nature.

It could be au. There seems to be a few scratches but they might be on the holder.

If it is ms I don't think it would be ms-60.

From the photos...high AU...if it is the holder interfering with the Obverse marks, could be MS but the ding in the shield would keep it MS62-64 (toning can hide many a mark, especially in photos). Personally not a fan of the toning, so would grade lower than some who likes it.

MS63 regardless of the toning. The coin is just all bag marked up.

What's going on in the field in front of his nose?

There are a lot of bagmarks on that coin. Strike looks average, luster is decent. The reverse is very darkly toned, and in my opinion has negative eye appeal. I can't quite tell if there is wear on the high points based on those pictures. It is either AU-58, or MS-62 for me (the negative eye appeal brings it down a point for me.)
