So I REALLY like this coin & basically just wanted to share .

For interests sake what do you think NGC certified it as & also what do you think held it back from getting the next grade above ?

I'm at 65 but can't really judge the luster from the images.

ms66rd... Strong strike with super clean fields (one hit in a prime focal point on the obverse). The devices on the obverse and the black spot on the reverse held it from a 67... BTW, beautiful coin and I know nothing about copper :)

    that's a beautiful looking Lincoln I would go MS66RD.

That is a 67 with a spot. The question is how much the spot dropped it. It does not appear to be too dark so I will go 66.

Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

Is it just my eyes, or is that a proof?

    I'll give it a 67.

I'm from an older grading school, and new so I'll tattoo myself with MS-63 Red on the Two spots on Reverse,/ patina on Obverse and Reverse no longer Mirror, Multi-color or tones fall in grades, with spots. My personal opinion is the
detail is spot on PF with an very desirable original finish. My opinion is almost never in the books. So I hope you did a lot
    better.

I'll say PF-65 , only because of the square rims and strike , and because all the MS grades it should of graded at NGC have been taken . What held it back is the reverse spot . Beautiful coin .

    You got it right !

I also agree with rzage that the spot on the reverse held it back (and the mark on the cheek)

I don't know how much is our photo or the coin, but the only way I could see that as a proof would be as a matte or satin proof. That coin does not show the shine/luster of a brilliant proof.

It has virtually no brilliance or mirrors . Super satiny like so many of the Franklins that I come across from that years sets.

It looks a lot like mine. The square and mirror edges (not so much the rims) give these away as first strike Satin Proofs.

Jason, that's a bloody brilliant looking coin. Shucks about the reverse spot though. It had so much potential.

Now you guys have done it! I'm going to start looking for a 50 satin proof!

The Satin Proofs were not made in 1950.
