64, but it looks like there's a scratch on the reverse?

Oh, good. 64/65 is my grade for it.

    MS65 - Nice looking Saint !
I was tempted to say MS66 but the ticks under her left arm were my deciding factor.

MS64 - ticks under her arm and across her dress. And another nice one.

    I'm thinking MS64 too.

I'm guessing 64, GUESSING, just to clean overall but not quite there

Looks like a solid 65 to my eye, but the pics aren't big enough to be sure.

So I'm going to guess Zaneman has found a PQ 64. ;)

Shes got problems under HER right arm and to the right of her right leg, otherwise a strong coin.

I hope you don't mind, but I think I'm going to just sit here stunned. It's like I'm seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time. Can't wait to hear how PCGS calls this.

I think if the luster is really good, it would be 65. If not, 64.

Boy I don't know what you guys are seeing, or rather not seeing, but based on the pics I'd have to say that coin is AU. Looks like light wear on the left leg and eagle's breast to me. Coin is very clean except for the marks on the sun.

Dunno, maybe it's me seeing everything wrong.

I honestly thought the same thing, but think what you're looking at is stacking friction -- as the coin is too "clean" to be AU in my eyes....

...but then again, the photos aren't quite clear enough to judge which it is....Mike

Might be right Mike, but in the back of my head there was other little piece of info rattling around. Zane made a comment in one of the other threads about taking pics in the bank which kind of implies to me that the coins are his. If that is the case, I just don't see Zane spending $50k on a coin, which is what it would cost if it were a 64. 'Course Zane may have moved up in the world.

Doug, don't they refer to that as "cabinet friction?" Hey, I think I learned that term from you.

I think we can all see it, whatever one wants to call it. On the obverse, it extends to the right leg, and through the rays just left of that. There's also a touch under the left arm. But my question, I guess, is, you know these things didn't circulate, how can you call that [circulation] wear? It'd have to be something different, no?

EDIT: If it is "cabinet friction," can it count against the grade? I didn't think it can.

Actually eddie many of them did circulate. There are lots of AU/XF double eagles.

And yes it could be cabinet friction or roll friction, different things entirely but both are treated the same in regard to grading and they do not restrict a coin getting an MS grade if using TPG standards.

But wear is wear, regardless of how it occurs.

I was just assuming they didn't. So the plot thickens, now... ;)

The coin resides in a PCGS ms-63 holder.
