It's really well struck, not too deep, but the flowing hair and especially the shoulder feathers on the reverse. There's a nick across the back of the Eagle and a couple slights in the field and on he cheek and on the neck, but at 66 I wouldn't hesitate to send it to CAC. A 67 I think is out of reach with the nick on the reverse and the nicks in the rays. 65+ to 66. Fantastic shimmer Very nice Peace Dollar!
Here's a 66 I found online (not my coin). Just for reference. Here's a photo of a 65 from Apmex stock photos Here's a 64 from Apmex stock photos Here's an Apmex Ms 67 Stock photo
I'm waffling at 65/66 if the luster is there- So I guess I'm @ MS66 These are tougher to find in superb grades than what most people think. I can't remember the last time I seen a ms66 or higher at a show
I see a couple of bag marks and I'm looking at a photo so I've got to go with MS-65 but it may be a 66 in hand.
It's funny how Peace Dollars are graded compared to Morgan's. Had this been a Morgan Dollar it would be a hands down 67 even with the hit on the reverse. With this being a Peace Dollar, I see it at a 66 and I really like it. But my gut tells me you picked this out of a tray of other's that were all similarly graded at a 65 and made a great pick. So I think the grade on the holder says 65, but it's really a 66, so off to CAC it should go to get a Gold Bean.
