I think it's a 63, the hit below her right knee and the hits on the reverse ought to hold it back from a 64.

Nice strike, how's the luster in hand?

I am putting my ignorance on display here.

I see a decent strike ( I have no idea as to which dates are well struck ), but I see a nice coin with no distractions, and minimal field hits, nothing too bad, but not quite gemmy. My guess? 64 or better, the dinger on the Eagles right wing should keep it from a full 65.

EDIT: Eagles LEFT wing, our right wing

    How's the luster?

Looks clean enough for a 65, but I wonder if a lack of luster (or rims) hasn't held this coin back to a 64 (which is what I guessed).

That's easy! 1917 Philadelphia Type 1.. and.. umm..

Hold on a second, I'm thinking.. 1929 and 1930 Philly coins can be well struck.

    That covers it :D

This coin is not, IMO, a 64 even, but the strike is really quite good, not an FH but otherwise a nice sharp strike so that may help it get a higher grade than the technical grade of 63.

What am I missing here that tech grades that at a 63, I really see nothing other than field minors and the wing hit. Sure looks better than an avg or " technical" 63 to me? That is one darn good lookin coin.

It's got a few more hits on it than some NGC 64s I have... the big one below her knee knocks it down there IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if it's in 64 or better plastic however.

That is really a nice coin. I'm impressed with it although the strike can be a little bit fuller. I see about 4 hits on the front, only 3 in the back although the rim can be a little cleaner. I get the feeling that the coin was properly dipped. I'd give it a MS65

with more contrast the hits look deeper and make it look to me MS64

    Oh well :)

I see it's in a newer NGC holder- rumor has it grading has tightened a bit- 64?

So here is the question. If everyone who sees the coin thinks it is an MS63-MS65, does that mean that it should sell for MS63-MS65 money despite the grade on the slab.

Can anyone say AU64! Hahahaha GOT YA!

I sooner think that it means that they misgraded it or you pics are hiding the problem.

Not my pics and not my coin. Anyone who wants to bid on it has 2 days left.

I already have an MS67 1924 SLQ. I will say that I can't find any wear on this coin from the Heritage photos and I am tempted to buy it just to find out.

I'm not holding it in my hand but I don't see ANY rub or wear on that coin. Where you'd normally see luster breaks it looks good to me.

If it goes for AU money it might be mine, but I guess Paul has dibs on it :D

It looks MS63 from the pics regardless of what the plastic says. You guys know how often I disagree with plastic, but more so on circulated stuff.

Despite Pauls AU85 campain, he's one of the best cherry pickers in the biz :)
