Guess the grade of this 1917 T1 SLQ graded by NGC in the poll above. Love to hear the opinions on this one.

You probably got me on this one. I cannot tell for sure just what is on the coin and what is on the holder.

Well the scratch across the eagle's wings has to be on the holder. The one on the obverse across the robe appears to be on the holder as well.

62-63, the strike holds it back, it's not a particularly nice strike for a 17 T1. Also hairlines all over the reverse.

Is that slight wear on the eagle's left wing? Nice coin IMHO!!

I agree about the strike, it is below average for a 1917. Look at the LIBERTY on the obverse, the shield, and the eagle detail, all very poor.

To the unenlightened (Me) she is still a beauty and I wouldn't throw her out of.....oh never mind.

I don't really know much about these...so I may be way off. But, based on the shield and the head...it appears to be a decently struck piece. It also has minimal marks and appears to have nice luster. So, I'll say MS64. :)

    Where's the choice for AU 63? ;)

Yep, meanwhile if it was a 16 it would be a relatively nice strike. Her gown is also pretty mushy for a 17P

For those not familiar: The 1917 Philadelphia Type 1 SLQs come especially well struck, the vast majority were struck with full heads and it's something of an anomaly as these coins go.

I keep holding out hope that they'll get one right occasionally. The coin has luster breaks all over the place. But I just know you're gonna come back and tell us they gave it a 64

    Doug,

I think he wants us to guess what NGC graded it, not what it really is! :)
