Wait, I always heard they were more strict back then? So you guess graded as MS62... what would you think it would get now?
By the way, there is a VERY light scratch on the Indian's cheek, but it is so light I don't think it affects it too much (it did straight grade).
Looks like a 62 to me. Forget the scratch, there's a wee bit too much wear on the high points of the headdress to go higher in my opinion. MS-63 prices start to climb. the Mint made most of these coins towards the end of the year, hence the lower mintages. Only 3 years were minted in Denver.
AU55, the open fields are somewhat marred.....and the incuse luster is nearly gone. By today's standard a so called slider.
Correct, no D. I am going to be using people's guesses to help determine if it is worth trying to CAC. Would the light scratch on the face prevent a sticker?
I just don't know these at all.. What I do know is that gold is softer and has a little more leeway in terms of allowed marks. I'm going to throw a dart at the board and say MS-63.
