The first photo is the PCGS TrueView image of the coin.

These are my photos of the coin. A noticeable difference to me. The white spots, especially on the Reverse, appears to be haze. These are the best I can as I do not have the proper equipment.

I don't see anything weak about the strike at all. What bothers me is that there are just enough minor nicks & dings to keep it from a 66. I'll say MS65+.

    I'd go 65+ , I love the toning as it's just right .

I'm going to go ahead and post the grade. I tend to be too crucial on the grades of Morgans and I tend to undergrade them.

    Here is the grade:

Can you believe it? Me either. I also thought MS65, MS65+ tops. I kept thinking what am I missing here for it to be a MS67+ with a CAC sticker. I bought the coin on the merits of the PCGS TrueView photo and I misread the number of days I had to return the coin and now this puppy is mine.

    Comments very welcome.

It probably deserves the 67 , that pic is pretty darn big and probably accents any hits I saw . I bet in hand it's even more impressive . Congrats on a beauty of a coin .

    I would have said 65+/66

Not that I've seen a lot of 67 Morgans but I wouldn't have bought it for 67 money.

Love the toning though! It is a beautiful coin.

Edit: I wonder why the marks in front of the chin don't show on the PCGS picture....

The PCGS picture, I'm right with you as it looks very nice. Your pictures show a little more chatter.

Yes, I'm surprised at the grade. I had it lower (65) because of the residue in the fields. IMO, the fields don't look clean enough for anything higher. You can see the luster the coin has and I agree with the earlier post about large photos.

Congrats on the addition. I do like the toning and the devices are rather clean.

It must be really nice in hand. I would have said 66.

Very nice coin. I would say one of the nicer ones that I have seen for that date, and there are loads of pretty 81s coins. You scored big on that one!!

My guess would have been 67. Nearly flawless cheek and fields, great luster and strike, and a bit of attractive color - what more could you want?

67 doesn't mean perfect. That is why there are a couple of higher grades.
