I was torn between MS-64 and MS-65, but went with MS-64 due to some nicks in the fields and the marks on her cheek

I'm going to say they gave it MS66. IMHO, it's a 65. It's a little baggy...especially to the right of the bust. Typical beautiful strike and booming luster seen with 1881-S Morgan's. I think with the lovely reverse toning and very clean reverse...NGC said MS66.

It looks to my blind eyes to be close to a 66, but I erred on the side of stupidity and gave it a 65.

The breast feathers aren't as clean as I would expect on an otherwise nicely-struck 81-S. The reverse fields are awesome save for the two hits that I can see, and the bagginess on the right of the obverse is the only distraction I see on that side. I think its a nice better than average 81S (better than average in terms of the countless examples sent in that get a 63 or 64, just not sure it makes a 66). But thats just my opinion :)

    MS65

MS 65. Nice coin. What they gave it? MS 65+ . However, I think it is a bit too baggy for more than a 65.

I voted 65 but thought it to me it was a 64.

I'm thinking it has the overall feel of an MS64/65 liner. The reason for this is that the obverse luster graze behind Ms. Liberty is large enough to catch the ey and the scratch above IG of IGWT hurts the reverse quite a bit. Also, the 1881-S can be found with booming luster, clean as all get out or with great color so this coin does not stand out for me. In total, I am on the fence with it so I voted MS64.

    I'll also say it's a MS65 - "Great" coin !

    Ngc 66

    Look at the cheek!

The only thing that concerns me at that grade is the mark in the right obverse field.

65 to 67 would not surprise me, anything else would.

Shouldn't do that. Form your own opinion regardless of what anybody else says. That's how you learn.

Hmmm - lemme ask you this. If you had two people to help you decide whether to buy a coin or not - one being me, and the other being somebody who graded exactly the same as the TPG.

Which one would rather listen to ?
