Here is a cool coin I bought. It was in an old ANACS holder. What do you think it will grade at NGC?

I think it would grade at VF35. Possible XF40

    I'll guess XF45.

Obverse looks VF-35, reverse at least AU-50.

VF35--the front just doesn't do it for me...the back is great and would get AU IMO but not the front.

ANACS graded it XF-45, and I think NGC will grade it AU-50. It doesn't have much wear, but it has a pretty thick "skin."

I don't know. I might have left it in the ANACS holder. NGC may not see it the way you do (but then again you have it in hand) and hurt ya.

    VF-35

The obverse is more important for grading, and this obverse won't make AU, so I'd be happy with EF-45, I'd have to call it EF-40, and go up or down 5 points. The reverse I might go AU-55, but split grades aren't used anymore.

Man, nice grade, and good going! I just saw the thread for the first time and had it at EF-40 or EF-45.

It deserves an AU50. Conservative EF-45. It still has some nice toning to it.

Wow, NGC with another overgrade, I thought VF-30-XF-40 when I originally saw it, though I suppose I could see the reverse pushing it to XF-45. Congrats.

I do not think that this coin is overgraded at AU-55. It has a thick skin, but does not have much wear at all. It is a lot better than the typical dipped out AU.

I'll grant you that the thick skin is misleading, when I first saw the thumbnail I was thinking F-12. However, I think there is just too much wear on the front of the coin to justify anything higher than an XF-45 grade. For instance if you look at an MS example, you see five folds at the knee. On this coin there is only half the folds are left. This is too much wear for AU-55, in my opinion. That being said I may be overstating the wear. Obviously the folks at NGC have a lot more expieriance and are probably better at this than I am. I'm just stating my opinion. I don't think this is an AU-55 coin.

I can't believe that NGC gave this baby AU55....but you have the coin in hand so you can better judge and I trust your grading.
NGC told me that they got my coins----I should get them back the end of this month....I'm going to send off about 5 more next week....1926-S Buff's....again!

Wow, I could see a 45 grade, maybe a low 50, but 55 seems to high for me. Regardless, congrats on the grade!
