Great clashing and cracks on the 1886. Should be easy to VAM. Your bottom set of pics make it tough to tell which obverse goes with which reverse, but I think I got it.

I'm guessing the 1886 was graded as a MS-64 and no star. I think it is in a holder generation prior to them giving the star designation. I love the die state and the color is nice. I think the small marks on her cheek might have held it back from a 65, but I could be wrong.

The 1883-O is an MS-63 and I think it did get the star.

The 1886 looks cleaner/less baggy overall; the 1883-O appears to be slabbed reverse forward and I would guess that is the hint that it got the star.

    1883-O: MS 63 Star
1886: MS 64 (no star, but deserves it)

And no I didn't cheat off of @jtlee321 (I just took a peak at his answers to make sure mine were correct :D)

Okay I will give this a shot.

I am in agreement on the 1883-0 at a solid MS63 but no star. Looks to have too many bag marks on the bust to have a star imo.

Now for the 1886-P I am also at MS 64. This one, if it is in a holder new enough to have it, deserves a star though . It just has a few too many bag marks to make a 65 but it is darn close. Very nice coin!

Oops yea. The bottom is a side by side of both coins to show, well, er, i guess to brag about how good they look together. ;)
BTW the 86p is a vam6b very easy to vam and has a nice offset double clash. I havent ventured the 83o vam yet, nothing jumped out as being important so i havent looked yet.

Hey it could be a 180 degree rotated reverse die. ;)

I’m thinking the first got the star and the second did not. The second looks like it could be darker in hand and needs some stronger light to bring out the color. Also obverse color vs reverse color

Star or no star is one of if not the haredest to guess imo. I like the idea behind it, I just don’t like they’re consistency with it. There’s to many variables as well like was it part of a named hoard ect that make it really hard to guess yes or no on.

Big reveal coming around Miller:30 tonight.
Miller, freshly minted with choice barley and hops. Coined in a polished, sharp struck aluminum can. Sampled and tested daily in the assay offices inside the Milwaukee mint

Now. Im pretty sure the '86p would probably get a star if sent in for reconsideration.
    (This holder pre-dates the designation)
Maybe get a 1/2 or full point upgrade as well

Looks like doubling on the first 8 of the '83? Nice coins.
