If I was a grader, I'd probably want to give this a 40+. The obverse screams XF-40 and the reverse looks like a high end 45 to 50. I don't think it got the + so I will stick with a very nice XF-40. I have not given one of these out for a while, but this one deserves it...
I agree that it is an attractive piece, and that the reverse is stronger than the obverse. I think it gets a 40 though, because I just don't think that obverse is strong enough to make 45.
The rim is perfect, no huge dings, completely original surfaces... I don’t usually see stars this sharp on VF coins. @BigTee44 - I thought there might be an 8 and a 7 south in the denticles, but I don’t have a good resource to check. Might just be normal anomalies in the rim? Thanks all for your takes on this one! (And @jtlee321 - I’m honored to get my first EW bean! )
Now that I got back to my Global Headquarters and was able to view the coin on my properly calibrated monitor, it's for sure a VF-35... You can take that to the bank.
I had originally got this one to crack it for my album. It would replace this one, which also has a noticeably better reverse than obverse: It’ll be joining these two: To crack, or to sell both and hold out for one with more detail/contrast like her sisters? That is the question.
Edit- just took another look from my personal Lear jet’s built in algorithmic AI coin analyzer loupe (The Gradetropolis 9000 - patent pending.) The display says “Crusty 40 - Call in your Acetone Specialist/Supermodel.” I’m tempted to give this one a bath but I’ll leave it alone.
