Well, I didn't think I'd get many guesses, but 2? I feel like the school teacher from Willy Wonka.... Here's the grade- now what's it worth?? My Nov. 2015 issue of bank note reporter lists it @$300 in gem CU. That's all I got, IDK of any price guide websites
Here's a link to sold Fr.237's in GEM condition. The prices include a buyers premium of anywhere from 12% to 18%, depending on the date sold. Notes with interesting serial numbers are worth more. https://currency.ha.com/c/search-re...09&Ntt=Fr.237&ic4=Refine-CurrencyGrade-102615 Nice note, but probably closer to $200.
They both basically mean the same thing. Original, unmolested, no restoration or stains/tears/pinholes etc. EPQ is used by PMG and PPQ is used by PCGS. Depending on the note, it definitely adds value and is your guarantee it is original paper....not washed or pressed.
I will also like to add, use caution when using printed or online price guides. The more you research for recent, sold notes, the better idea you can get for the current trend in currency values. Heritage, eBay, Spink and several other major auction houses have online accessible archives with up to date information. Price guides are just that, guides.
Thanks 4 the replies guys, I guess this is why I stick mainly w coins. The market is soft and funny on some stuff, but sky high on the earlier stuff..Plus, Notes all just look the same to me. Whereas a coin, even though has the same design has all kinds of variables like luster that is frosty or satin or brilliant proof like etc etc then there is rainbow bag toning or album / roll toning or blast white. I guess if you don't do coins it's hard 4 me to explain
I think you got a little lucky on that grade, especially from PMG that bottom margin On the front looks very narrow and slightly at an angle, i have seen better In a 64 and 63, personally i think most 64,s look better then 65,s just because of the alignment issues, i kind of shy away from them unless they are a top grade
#1 the photos aren't the best, but i agree, and I noticed it is a squoze off center myself. I tend to do the same with Morgan Dollars, 65 's cost $150+ where as a '3 or '4 costs less than half of that. If u can grade, for yourself it can serve you very well, cherry-ing items in TPG holders.
