MS 65, just like I suspected. But, the coin does have amazing eye appeal, like Dave said, so, it could have gone beyond.
That is what I'd hoped for. Sometimes you just have to pay all the money and take that shot. Missing hurts, but I don't always miss. If I never took the shot I'd always miss . . .
Classic commems don’t usually have many marks and the grades are very luster dependent. I guessed MS66 because of the eye appeal but the assigned grade doesn’t surprise me.
65 is what I had guessed. I think there are a few contact marks hidden in the toning that limit the grade. Very nice coin!
I missed, too, Mike. My guess was MS66 for the same reasons as @Lehigh96. Luster is everything. I do kind of wonder if the obverse toning pattern gave the impression of a slightly more lustrous coin, but I’m satisfied with my guess nonetheless.
