Difficult to photograph as it is really dark. Undergraded IMO. What say you?? And as always with graded coins that I buy, the holder is scratched.
Pretty coin but the rubs on the obv. High points makes me believe Au.58 But will add if my entire collection was an Au 58 I be one happy camper.
I think it's MS. I also really like it!! I'd say it's graded at MS-65BN but would agree that it's undergraded and should be more like a 66+. The luster looks like it just screams in hand and it has very nice eye appeal. The surfaces appear to be free of marks that would hold the grading back. I think it was only held back because it is not original mint red.
I can’t not see that scratch above the date, which is on the coin. I’d bet that’s why it graded less than you felt it deserves.
Ok time for a hint. There is no wear. The coin has a subtle hue of purple with brown. The high points that you see as wear are blue toned giving the appearance of wear. But this coin is definitely not touched.
For the most part I believe they do....I'll point the finger at dealers! Having worked many shows watching dealers set up and break down. One must remember when I buy a slabed half dime it becomes part of my personal. Collection . As dealers they are only inventory. There's a big difference between the 2..... When you take pride in something compared to something that only value is in dollars and cents. Not that there's anything wrong with that...as you own it and can do as you please with it. But I've seen behinde the closed doors ,and there is a difference between owning something and selling it.
