    I have been after this variety since I saw @ldhair example. I have found them out of my price range, or not in acceptable grade if in a slab. Found this one today and got the bonus, a soapbox slab.
    What's the grade of this Flying Eagle below.

    Nice coin. I would grade it Fine something. What looks like a cud is actually clash marks. Rick list it as an S-9. The clash marks are from an 1857 Half Dollar die. Fun variety.

    Woah, someone was messing around in the mint! Were any coins struck with the half dollar and cent die pair?

    I believe there's also one that was clashed with a obverse Double Eagle die.

    I've always thought this variety was neat.

    Some call these 1857 Multi-denominational die clashes.
    S-7 Die from the $20 gold piece.
    S-8 Die from the quarter.
    S-9 Die from the half dollar
    1857 quarters can be found with the clash from the cent die.
