This was one of my Christmas presents. I tried to get thru a big scuff on the reverse. I think that these are sufficient though for grading.
I will preface my opinion by saying that I might be interpreting the photos incorrectly, but the blackish areas on the bell, Ben's lower face, and hair in the middle of the head look very distracting. If they are luster grazes then my grade will seem a little harsh. The coin can't have FBL, the lower lines are interrupted the left of the crack, but the luster looks very good. MS63
I’ll say the luster gives it 65. No fbl also thinking I’m seeing a scuffed up slab especially in right obverse field
Very nice luster. No FBL. Now the harsh of my observations. I think this Franklin is a prime candidate for some professional conservation. Note the following areas for conservation. On the reverse: On the 'D' in Dollar. Above the 'O' in Dollar. Between the two 'L's' in Dollar. At about 10 o'clock on the left wing of the eagle. On the obverse: Between the 'E' and the 'T' of IGWT. MS-63
Initially I was gonna go with 63 (no FBL), but it's tough to judge, with some of the chatter obviously being in the slab plastic. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and go 64.
Here is the grade, MS64. This Frankie is definitely weak on the lower bell lines. I think though that the luster is strong enough for gem just too many contact marks.
