1941 D Jefferson GTG The line running vertical on the reverse is on the slab not the coin. around 3.5 degrees rotation. There is a full clash of Jefferson on the Reverse seen better in hand then from the images .
MS65, there appears to be a bridge between the 4th & 5th step under the 3rd pillar which would prevent full steps. Still, it is very well struck which is common for the 41-D and the step detail looks good. The surfaces look pretty clean but I think the spotting and luster keep it from grading premium gem.
You snuck in another pic of the stairs or did I miss it the first time? If its not FS that is as close as they get. I see what @Lehigh96 mentioned under P3.
The image doesn't show the luster that's on this coin. It actually could signal a plane....cart wheel luster , tone is copper around the rims and steel blue center in hand. Shooting it with a Dino scope does rob a lot of the details seen in hand. The reverse clash as well as the rotation add a plus. But I'm not quite sure looking for another specimen to compare I believe it's a ddo. Also! Not a bad buy for my lunch money. As to the FS very close but I don't think it would go FS.
Yeah, your original photos kind of rob the luster which is evident in the slab photos. I like this coin and think it has a great original look. That combination of antique bronze and steel blue is awesome, on any series.
What if the PCGS breathalyzer or whatever the hell it is pinned that steel blue on one of the chemicals in their hit list, are you not liking the coin anymore?
I can attest that the labels in the early old white holders were conducive to toning silver coins. Naturally might I add.... Grrrrrrrrreat looking specimen Paddy Aaaaawwwhhhhhodeyy.... Grrrrrrrrrrowwwwlllll
Yes you're so right About the image taken with my scope. My Nikon would take a better full image if I had the correct lens. As for this 41 D regraded I believe it would go 67 or at least a star *66. It's about as close as you can get FS without being FS. I got this one pretty cheap as I truly don't need another 41D. I think I did pretty good as I didn't have a loop with me. I went on these old eyes and a gut feeling . It maybe a ddo I'm looking for a reference source to confirm.
Paddy, I trust your grading expertise especially on a nickel I agree , that this coin will probably grade 67 in a circa 2016 holder, but we both know that you will never crack and 're-submit, because you love the early anacs as much as I do
Yeah I'm a Sucker for a soap bar slab...... but my wins buying them out number my break evens or losses . And thanks Heavy for the comp.
Thanks for the comp. Yes was hard to walk away from this coin even though I wasn't looking for it. LoL
