    Sitting in an album, a coin tones from the outside in since the sulfur source is the cardboard of the album. There isn't much atmosphere present in a closed album for the toning to propagate across the rest of the coin, unlike some other toning cases where the sulfur comes from the atmosphere and the whole surface of the coin tones as a result.
