Does anyone else think this has an over-dipped/cleaned look to it ? Looks very close to a Details grade to me. I chose 55 due to striking issues, otherwise I'd have chosen lower 40/45.
@Johndoe2000$, I think being over-dipped is a possibility but is likely only going to be known by the person who has it in-hand. Subdued luster is so darned hard to judge from photos. Steve
Help me out, @Patrick King, since I often buy from photos. What are the signs of finger grease used to hide a light cleaning? Thanks. Steve
Suspicious luster, an uneven white film covering the fields and relief, and a lack of this film around the lettering and parts of the coin that are hard to reach with a greasy finger.
AU 55.....It's a great looking piece strike-wise and preservation-wise. Not sure if it has surface issues or not.
