Common date but unique coin. The NGC Star planchet error got me interested in mint errors involving Morgan's. Enjoy and sorry for the bad photos.

It's not possible to grade a coin from images like this.

Better photos please. All I can see is a shinny Morgan Dollar with a crack at 7 PM.

Nice cracked planchet! Too bad about the milkspots and yeah accurate grading is impossible with these pics though unless I want to scan your barcode and cheat

I tried but not enough of the bar code to get a good reading.

I'm trying to figure out the VAM. The die crack on the reverse going from the right laurel through the right wing to "of". I checked VamWorld and didn't see a match. Some were close but none matched exactly the path of the crack on the laurel through the wing through the bottom of the "f" to the middle of the "o".

If this got a star, IMO it is graded MS-65 which is NUTS (IMO) because "Mint caused spots" lower "eye appeal."

High end 64, is what I would grade it.
It would be a 65 imo, w/o the water spots

I've always wanted a cracked planchet Morgan, seems like they are always '21s though, I've never seen one on a '78-'04

I'm not finding a match in the crack guide with the wing and E cracks for d2 reverse either. And it looks to be scribble-less but hard to tell. If so we could be looking at a v1 or v3 which are catchalls for "nothing interesting and no other significant pups" maybe @SuperDave can chime in but much better pics will most likely be needed especially if the scribbles area unless you aren't seeing any.

I've already had somewhat a look at this one - looks like a very nice example - without finding that characteristic crack through the F in OF to the wreath. That's the key to attribution. Too few 1921-P's have full-face images to make this easy.

There's a cracked planchet 1921 on eBay right now. The crack goes through Liberty's cheek "scar face". Too bad it's been cleaned and over $700.

Man. There's even more milkspots in that pic. Eye appeal really killed the technical grade unless the pics are hiding more hits and scuffs.

Technical grade is low but how many planchet cracks are out there? Does NGC or PCGS keep population reports on them?

I see them quite often on heritage. Not to imply they are common but they aren't exactly ultra rare. Search their archives. Mostly 1921 though

The spots aren't too detracting in hand.
