Probably should have noted that the coin has vibrant cartwheel luster but the deep toning made it very difficult to photograph. The TrueViews didn’t show it either, but they did capture the blue color that my camera never seems to for some reason.... On my short list to upgrade after an upcoming purchase.
There are a lot of nice 1904 cents. Im gonna go kinda high say say MS66BN. I think the reddish purple color comes from toning so im saying BN rather than RB.
This thread got me to thinking about how easy it is to lose the overall quality of the coin in the quest for showcasing color in images. I reshot this one as an example: Granted, this is a beautiful coin with full/vibrant color so it's nice to show that, but at least in the new images both color and luster are visible.
Based on the last photo, it looks MS65 BN. Were you using diffused lighting in the initial Photos? The luster looks totally washed out
Correct, MS65BN on that one. Yep, I was going for a "TrueView-y" style of photo to showcase the color. I think the second set is both a more accurate and more attractive representation of the coin personally. OP coin with the same lighting:
