Grading proofs from pictures is absolutely impossible. I will say, however, the toning on this appears quite attractive. This looks like a very nice Barber - and that's not something I say often.
True, fun to guess anyhow. Curious what hairlines are on the slab and what's on the coin with this one as well.
Tried to crossover to PCGS when I submitted an order but didn't make it. PCGS claimed "scratched" as the reason. I had to submit through a dealer as I don't have a membership. Dealer couldnt find a scratch, I can't find a scratch. Hairlines are either very minimal or well disguised by the toning. This was the only coin of the 6 coin submission that didn't make it. Majority crossed and upgraded.
It’s possible they weren’t sure if something was on the holder or the coin or that they thought they saw one. I can’t say whether or not there is one as I’ve never seen it in person, but if they have any doubt if something is or isn’t there on a cross over they always go with the ultra cautious route
I didn't think they gave reasons for why coins don't cross, do they make a note these days? Pretty coin regardless of the grade. Here's my 1898, love Barber proofs (and non-proofs too)
When checking the submission online it just showed that it did not cross. When I got the coins back there was a PCGS genuine scratched label included in a 2x2.
