I'm thinking about AU53. With almost 75 known VAMs for the year and no apparent "smoking gun" pickups on your coin, we'd have to get sorta microscopic to attribute it. Check ear and mint mark for doubling, and the inside top left of the upper loop of the first 8 for a little "spike" of a die chip. If present, one or the other of those will help narrow things down greatly.
27. Not sure I see doubling on the ear in this picture, but the mint mark is in the right place. Also, there are very few 1881-O VAMs ANACS would have (a) bothered figuring out, and (b) done correctly back in the days of those holders. Edit: I'll say 45 for the grade.
I think enough lustre remaining to warrant AU50 and agree with Messy on VAM-27. The shadows make the double ear tough to see but the fingerprint obverse die cracks are there.
