I'm in the MS62 camp, too. It's an 1881-S so a nice strike is expected, but I count at least 6 hits on LIBERTY's face which is unacceptable for any higher grade. The reverse toning is its only redeeming attribute. Chris
I gotta give it to @cpm9ball @Morgandude11 and @Collecting Nut. I don't know if this is allowed, but this one is UNC details due to the marks. I was thinking 63. I was surprised by the details, I didn't think it looked damaged at all.
I'd ask them why. I don't see any reason this would not straight grade. Low MS but it should straight grade.
I think you can find a coin with better eye appeal than that for $100 if you keep looking for awhile. The EOR toning is cool but doesn’t make the obverse battle with a cat any less distracting, IMO. Especially when it’s already in a details holder.
Wheel marks don't show up in photos...the coin needs to be tilted in the light for the mark to appear.
