It's hard to assess for any wear from the glare. Ooh, that rhymes. Anyway, it's the distractions to the eye appeal, that's all this "market grading" is, and those pics are showing a lot of such activity, on the west coast, primarily, and on the midwest region, on that obverse side. Call it, conservatively, MS63. Yeah, this "grading" is really hard, these days, ain't it? I wonder what the "pros" say on this one. I wonder if we, "got it right?" Oh, but they got the coin in-hand. Oh, lol...
I had it at 62/3 figured it's a high end 62 low end 63. There's no wear just bag contact Pcgs was tough on this whole order
The 1878 has four reverses: -- Eight tail feathers on eagle. -- Seven over eight tail feathers. (Die alteration) -- reverse of 1878 (skinny eagle with seven distinct tailfeathers) -- reverse of 1879. Proportionately correct eagle with seven distinct tail feathers.
The 1878 type 1 rev (flat breast, or rev. of 78) was the first Morgan rev. design and the most common variety. The type 2 rev. (round breast, or rev. of 79) was struck on some 1878,s toward the end of the year, and is a scarce variety. This variety is also known as the 3rd rev. and was used (with exception of the 1879-s and the 1880-cc second reverse coins) for the remainder of the series.
