Fair amount of trace luster in hand under a light source. This is a Cohen 1, the only known die pairing of 1851 half cents. Mintage of 147,672 is high for the series which makes this date easily obtainable as a type coin. Fun fact- All have a misplaced "1" to the right of the second 1 in the date.
AU-50 These coins saw very little use in circulation. Most of them are in high grade. Most of the low grade pieces got there via damage, not wear.
I had it at AU50 myself before submitting... I don’t think there’s quite enough wear for XF based on the image you posted but I agree they were generous with this one.
