Got some new GSA CC Morgans this morning, one here is an 1883 CC VAM 5B. Just not sure how the grade may fall at 64 or 65? Thoughts? ...in a GSA holder and there is a huge rub/scratch in the plastic over the first 8 up to the ear.

Beauty! Depends on the mood of the grading team but I'd go 65 but my vote doesn't count. Solid strike. Frosty.

    A lot nicer than my '83 - CC . It could go 65 .

  5. Nice coin. I would mark it as a 64 myself. I tend to be tough on my own coins. It would probably 65 since it looks pretty clean of marks. That also depends on the luster as well. I've always wanted a nice GSA, just have never pulled the trigger. Congrats.

Thanks for the posts. I just looked at the pics again and I think there may be a distracting green hue to the shots. I take pics by a window with a lot of greenery just outside, I think that may be getting reflected by the plastic. Will try again tonight by artificial light see if any better.

Much better color with artificial light, lesson learned when shooting slabbed coins.
    Same coin as above.

Oh, I don't know, I think the luster grazes are going to hold it at MS63. I hope I'm wrong.

Looks like a 63 for the 83-CC and maybe 64-65 for the 82-CC.

Don't use Plast-X on GSA holders. The plastic is too soft and it will hairline. Perhaps following it up with something like Novus 1 would help. Practice on a brown Ike case first.
