I was at the bank today and was getting some rolls of pennies to check. I told the teller that I just checked 16 rolls of halves and only got 1 silver clad coin. He pulled out a plastic bag with about 20 Eisenhower dollars. I asked what the dates on them were. He said 1971-1976. I thought hmm, those aren't silver clad. I came home and checked online and then smacked myself upside the head for not buying them! I was thinking of the half dollars (1965-1970). Grrrrrrrr. I'll be at the bank as soon as they open tomorrow and HOPE he still has them!

I think only the S mint coins are silver clad. The P and D are just clad and only worth a dollar.

Yes, I think you're right. They certainly didn't sound like silver when I dropped one that he let me look at. Now I'm not so angry at myself. lol

  6. Silver or not always jump on any Ikes you can get a face. Worst case scenario, you can deposit them. Best case scenario you can get some silver, a nice variety or a maybe even a gem clad worth much more than face. TC

    You are absolutely right:
I scored 300 at a local bank. 200 of them were keepers, here are 3 of them. They all look like this. All years and mint marks, including a type 1972 type 2. I ask every time in any bank.
