This is a presentation copy of Criswell's hardbound book, "Confederate and Southern States Currency - A Descriptive Listing, Including Rarity and Values," 4th edition, SIGNED and dedicated to ME, December 16, 1992: "...To D--- S------, to a long time friend and lover of the historical arts, etc., Warmest Regards, Grover Criswell." I knew him over 30 years, and attended the IRS auction of his seized property in Jacksonville, Florida, a spectacle which broke his heart. At that auction, he begged me to bid on a frame of US duck stamps signed both by him and by his father; I did, and won them after a struggle, and later gave them back to him, one of the few keepsakes he was able to retrieve. I have no opinion on whether the IRS seizure was appropriate, or whether the resulting auction was handled correctly. But it broke him, emotionally, completely. Grover was also President of the ANA, 1977 to 1979. He died in 1999. The book/catalog is in Mint Condition. I bought the 5th edition when it came out, so this signed 4th edition wouldn't get damaged or worn. Total 415 pages, lavishly illustrated with B&W images. Price, $40 postpaid and insured.
