I am extremely new to coin collecting, and I have a few questions about a 2011 penny I have acquired. While I was looking through some change tonight I saw a penny that was a light flat grey color on both sides. On both of the sides there is also an edge of the face of the penny that is still copper colored and shiny. In addition to the discoloration there is also an indention on the heads side of the quarter. This creates a ridge on the side closest to the date. I would not be surprised to find out this is just an environmentally damaged coin, but I had to be sure I didn't pass up a rare penny. If need be, I can post some better pictures tomorrow.
