Post your Greenland coins! I wish all Greenlanders the best of luck with their proposed independence. I bought this Greenland coin from Allen Berman at Connecticut's CoinFest last month. Post your Greenland coins! Very best regards, collect89
Tell that to the Republican VP noninie. anyway ... we're taking Newfoundland and Edwards Island as well
Independence may come in 2020 or so, after another referendum. This year's vote was about extending the autonomous status of Greenland to more policy areas than before. For example, Denmark will continue to pay its annual subsidies to Greenland, but they will get part of the profits expected due to the climate change. Will be interesting to see whether Greenland will actually have "its own" coins in 2012. The new agreement merely says that both parties will continue to use the krone. I know that new notes are planned for Greenland; don't know about coins though. Christian
Not yet, but the Danish parliament decided in May 2007 that Greenland will get its "own" notes. Much like the Faroe Islands notes, those will basically be DKK (krone, koruuni) notes but with a specific design. Don't ask me when they will be issued. Christian
This one is WWII era Does anyone have some other Greenland coins they could post? This one is WWII era. Very best regards, collect89
Sounds like a plan... I'd much prefer Obama to the dimwit Harper we have running the show here in Canada.
I want to learn from CT people Does anyone have some Greenland coins in their collection that they could share photos in this thread? I'm looking to collect coins from Greenland so I'd sure like to learn more about them (from CT) before I spend any real money on the coins. Very best regards, collect89
That is a neat Greenland coin. I don't have a 1 Krone. I only have the two Greenland coins that I posted. I'll post other Greenland coins if I am successful finding them. Very best regards, collect89
Norway. Anyway, I don't think that Greenland wanted and got extended autonomy only to give it up shortly afterwards and become part of some neighboring country. Who knows, there may be other primarily Inuit regions in North America that now want a more autonomous status too ... Christian
