Weighing 2.14 g. and measuring 16 - 17 mm., this bronze coin of Emperor Constantius II has a totally green beautiful color. Is it toned and natural, or do I have to treat it as affected by Bronze Disease ? Thanks for your remarks.. C2Green O.jpg C2Green R.jpg

I don't think it is, but hard to tell :/ Can you rub it off?

It might be a fake patina.

I rubbed it several times on each side with a toothbrush, and here's what I got. CFP O.jpg FGP R.jpg

IMHO it does not look anything like BD. Generally BD is soft and fuzzy looking and can easily be removed with a pick.

It doesn't look like BD, just mineral deposits. BD is usually accompanied by pitting, and if the coin had that much BD on it, it would be literally falling apart.

Could it be a fake patina ? There are many coins which are being offered to me with such a green tone. I'd better know.

I don't think it's a fake patina. Fake patina's are typically used to cover up surface roughness and highlight details.

It's kinda like TIF's make-up syndrome ... was it TIF?

I think this coin would do well with Verdi-Care treatment. Charles, you can read more about it and purchase it from Wizard Coin Supply.
