I'm happy with this purchase. I'm not a fan of small coins, but this one is pretty nice. Thraco Macedonian Tribes, Mygdones or Krestones. (Circa 485-470 BC). AR Diobol, 11 mm, 1 g Obv: Goat kneeling right, head reverted; two pellets around. Rev: Quadripartite incuse square. Lorber, Goatsissue 15; Topalov -; HPM pl. III, 14; SNG ANS (Macedonia) 60-4 (Aigai). Thanks to Ardatirion and Dougsmit for attribution confirmation. stainless
Its a nice pickup. Good price to from what I was showed. But wow thats small, makes my Gupta look large.
I personally love small coins. I like your a lot. Those early coins with the incuse punches are very cool, its documentation of the evolution of coinage. Really cool pickup man. Cool subject too, as goats aren't terribly common on ancient coins. They are more common than my favorite, the rhino, but still scarcish. Chris
