WTS: Greek. Aspendos. First issue stater (465-430 BC)

    There is a hoard of the formerly-rare early coins of Aspendos in Pamphylia (south central coast of Turkey). Sear "Greek Coins and Their Values" has the type as number 5381 at 750 pounds in VF, but they almost never come that nice and until this hoard were quite rare. You can read about the type here:

    They are the very first coins issued at Aspendos (long before the famous "wrestlers-and-slinger" type which has a triskeles in the field). They have
    Obverse: Hoplite warrior with spear and shield right
    Reverse: A triskeles of three human legs radiating out from the center, running right or left (two varieties).
    Each is c.21-19 mm, thick like a stack or three or four cents, and close to 10.8 grams. They are silver "staters".
