Hey folks I had the pleasure of hanging out with Acanthite tonight here in town. Brad's mother lives in Mesa, not far from me and he was visiting so we hooked up. I usually see Brad at the LongBeach show ( he lives in Long Beach ) but this was better. We went to Applebees for a beer and some shooting the bull. Brad brought along a 20 coin slab box full of goodies. I was in awe as I looked thru some of his cherry pics, mispunched date Indian Cents, some really high grade Hard Times Tokens, and the best of the bunch, IMO, were the Pillar Dollars that he has collected. One sharp numismatist with an eye for detail. A very impressive bunch of coins, oh yeah, the high grade bust and seated half dimes were to die for. Thanks Brad for a great Friday evening, we will have to do this more often. The stories of your travels as a geologist are always great. A hobby and a job, doesn't get much better than that. It sure is great meeting and hanging out with the folks I have met here.
You know, geologists need to have bloody good eyes to look for certain type of rocks. Numismatics is just part of an eye training Good to know that you both had an awesome time. Just looks like I'm in the wrong country lol. No worries, all I need is an air ticket some day.
The pleasure was mine, AJ, it was great to spend some quality time with another CTer, and someone who is so well specialized in their field. AJ is putting together an amazing set of Lincolns, it will be a sight to see when its finished! And hats off to all his efforts to put together some great prizes for the YN contest. Members have been generous in their donations, a credit to how much respect people have for each other on CT.
Yes, I guess looking through a loupe every day at work does help a bit. Now if I only had about 40 more years to study the various series I like to collect...
Sounds like alot of fun. I've met a couple CTers, and its always nice. AJ and acanthite are a couple of members who I'd really like to meet too.
Sounds pretty sweet, glad to hear you guys had a good time. :thumb: Did you guys look at the coins in the restaurant? Phoenix
