Hey everybody, it's me again. I have another question for all the brillient minds out there: Yesterday I walked into my Wells Fargo bank with the full intention of purchasing a box of pennies. One of the tellers recognized me as "that crazy guy who collects coins" and told me that she had a few rolls of half dollars. Well, duh, I bought them, took them home, and when I sat down to open them up, I noticed an ink stamp on the side of 2 rolls with the date July 17, 1975, and a serial number, with the words "Stamped by vault teller." I open up the rolls, and lo and behold, those two both contained BU Bicentennial Halves from Denver ($20 worth!). I am curious as to whether these would have any premium value. I am thinking about keeping one, and if it's worth it, selling the other. I know BU rolls go for a small premium over non-BU rolls, but I don't have any idea about these, especially in a dated wrapper. Thanks for any help! ~AJ
hey ajm, dont have any suggustions but i know that thats a good find....nice job! looks like someone spent their GRANDDADDYS coin collection...lol Pete-
You might be able to get $15 per roll for them, but if you sell them to a dealer they will almost certainly demand that you open them so that they can inspect the quality of the coins before making an offer.
Did just that - he said they're BU, but advised me to hold onto them for a few more years. Said they'd probably appreciate in value - so that's what I'm gonna do. ~AJ
