Had the best experience in a long while today. Wife went into a jewelry store to buy a present for our Granddaughter and I sat in the car for awhile reading. All of a sudden I thought, maybe this jewelry store has some old coins for sale. So, in I go and saw a couple of gold coins. One was a 1893 Double Eagle but not in the best of condition in which he wanted $ 3,000.00. Very high price for this coin but it had a gold flake mount surrounding the coin, which would bring up the price a bit, but not to $ 3,000.00. Anyway, I started a pleasant conversation with the owner and he became very excited about his gold findings in the Yuba river and proceeded to show me some of the examples of his nuggets. I swear my jaw dropped when he showed me the size of some of the raw gold nuggets and other smaller gold ore and flakes he had. He even went into a story about how to check gold ore for counterfeit samples, and showed me the difference between river washed gold and stationary lodged nuggets. If I hadn’t had my wife there, I would have spent the rest of the day just listening to his adventure tales and strikes. I can’t hardly wait to pay this storekeeper another visit. I just wished his pricing was more in my range because, I would certainly give him want ever business I could afford, just for being a nice informative businessman. What a great contrast in customer relations compared to a general retail mall store. Dave
