So I found a couple silver dimes on Craigslist and inquired about them. We talked on the phone and he said He can do $2 each on the worn dimes and would like more for the rest of them. I tell him I am only interested in the worn dimes, so I send him the $8 in the mail. When I get the mail from him, I see that he included the other dimes, which consists of a pretty worn 1884-S and nicer 1900. I contact him and say I am not interested in the barber but interested in the other dime. I ask how much he wants for it, and he says ".Please keep them all and think of it as...There is at least one more cool person out there...You have a good day...." Man! I gotta love this guy! He made my day so much better today! Thanks Mr. Craigslist guy whose name I will not disclose. Sincerely, Cannyn
That's awesome, you found what I call the "1 in 100 craigslist victory". Deals and honest sellers/buyers are few and far between on there.
So far in my life, I have found two of them. One was a retired man liquidating his coin collection at dirt cheap prices to me and adding tons of extras. This is when I first started coin collecting and He was a very nice man though I didn't ever meet either I already like them. The funny thing is if I had a car, I would go and visit them and hear their coin collecting stories (my favorite) and since I don't I use email, The first man was very generous and gave lots of cool extra, and this current guy actually blew my mind with excitement!
I had an experience similar to that. A young college kid posted a silver lot because he needed vacation money. Without regard to the actual value, he sold 11 silver eagles for $5 under melt at the time (2009). He was really cool and had said he doesn't go on craiglist often. But it was nice to meet someone real cool for this type of transaction. He left happy as can be and so did I.
