Identifying the die variety, particularly on some Large Cent dates, is difficult on certain dates. The 1835 Matron Head has 18 varieties. And the 1837 Modified Matron Head is worse. The 1851 Braided Hair has something like 45 varieties many with identifying characteristics that are small and/or disappear quickly with wear. The Penny-Wise article lists 5 online sources of images that will help me with the identifying process.
