My dads coin collection contains two sets of "Great American Presidents Collection". One set has a Certificate of authentication, stating that less that 1,000,000 sets will be minted. There not for currency use by at all, also stating that they are made from .999 silver, and 24 karat gold. There are 6 coins, G. Washington, Ab Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Ronald Reagan, Franklin Roosevelt, and John f kennedy. Does anyone have ANY more info on these coins, or where i can find more info? Also any ideas as to what they may be worth? Attached are some pictures, the scanner doesnt do them much justice.
Can you tell us who the coins were minted by? Possibly the Franklin Mint or some other kind of identifier on the Certificate of Authenticity? Cris

I see on a commercial website where these are being offered for sale at $6.00 each. Apparantly, there is a whole series of presidents that go along with these. Also, these aren't really "coins". They are commemorative medals produced by a private mint, and would be classified as exonumia.

The gold is just gold plate on the central design features - even if it is 24k. As for the silver - it depends on the weight of the coin - anything less than 1 oz and they are still making money.
the coin DEFINATLY weighs alot more than 1 oz. Its much bigger and thicker than a quarter, for comparison. Quess i should have put one nexto the coins when i scanned them
Check your certificate - you should find the weight of each there. But based on the size you described - I would estimate each medal at 1/2 - 3/4 oz. Even a Morgan silver dollar does not weigh 1 oz. Or if you wish - get yourself a postal scale and weigh one. I think you'll find I am correct.
